Lindenhurst is a family-friendly community offering both a small-town atmosphere and proximity to big-city amenities. The town is home to a bustling economy that offers plenty of employment opportunities. In fact, a foremost goal of Lindenhurst’s economic planners is to encourage reinvestment into local merchants.
The three districts serving elementary school students in Lindenhurst are the Millburn, Antioch and Lake Villa districts. High school level students are served by the two districts of Antioch and Grayslake.
The Village of Lindenhurst produces zestful annual events like Lindenfest and Earth-Arbor Day. Lindenfest kicks off in August and features magicians, local dance troupes and pageants representing several ages and categories. As there is no cover charge, the festive atmosphere is the perfect complement to colorful booths and carnival midway. During Earth-Arbor Day, volunteers participate in a widespread village clean-up and a garage sale that’s open to the public. They also enjoy viewing exhibits designed to educate everybody concerning area wildlife. Lindenhurst Park District co-sponsors the affair, offering free soft drinks and hot dogs.
As the town’s Chamber of Commerce so proudly boasts, Lindenhurst is truly a community “on the move!”
